Maxima Marketing President Debbi Kickham is a former Editor of Robb Report and a veteran member of the Society of American Travel Writers. This prestigious organization has as its members the most trusted professional voices in the travel industry.
Over the years, we have written countless articles on beauty, spas, luxury, value, honeymoons, destination weddings, cruises and shopping, from everywhere from Walla Walla to Bora Bora. While Debbi Kickham certainly writes on traditional topics, her favorite angles is to write about the offbeat—subject matter that she is very astute at finding by using all of her reporter’s skills.
For example, We have written dozens of articles about how to visit Hawaii without breaking the bank, and traveling there on a budget, which entitles, “More Hula, Less Moolah.” This story is always published by major travel media, as the common perception is that it is just too expensive for anyone to visit Maui. Debbi Kickham’s annual “More Hula, Less Moolah” features are always a hit. We have also written numerous articles about the popularity of Spam in Hawaii.
Similarly, Debbi Kickham has written several stories during July, National Ice Cream Month, about “flavors that didn’t make it,” all about the creation of new flavors that push the envelope too much.
While at Robb Report—“The magazine for people with million-dollar taste”—President Debbi Kickham exclusively focused on writing about luxury—everything from stockings with diamond seams, to upscale kitchens and baths, to fur coats for the Rolls-Royce “Flying Lady” hood ornament, to luxury jewelers such as Cartier, Patek Philippe and Bulgari, to asking VIPs, celebrities and entrepreneurs, “What is the best thing about being rich?” We annually researched, wrote and promoted the magazine’s Christmas Guide of million-dollar merchandise, which had the Neiman-Marcus Christmas catalog as its competitor. As a freelance travel writer, Debbi Kickham continues to focus on luxury goods and the upscale marketplace, reporting about everything from fashion to presidential suites at resort hotels, to the world’s best briefcases.
Another of her stories, written to include her expertise about the cruise industry, has appeared in numerous publications and is entitled “The Ten Commandments of Luxury Sailing,” with 10 tips on how to make your cruise more sybaritic and fun. She always includes info such as “Thou Shalt Order Hot Fudge Sundaes in the Hot Tub” and “Thou Shalt Love Thy Pillow Menu,” as she tailor-makes the article pertinent to each individual cruise line.
Maxima Marketing President Debbi Kickham have sailed on assignment on all the luxury cruise lines including Silversea, Azamara, Regent Seven Seas, Crystal and Seabourn, as well as premium lines such as Holland America, Norwegian, Princess and Windstar, and mega ships such as those on Royal Caribbean. She also lectures about her business and travel books on cruise ships, to enthusiastic audiences.
Concerning destination weddings, Maxima Marketing has written about how to plan your destination wedding for all kinds of global destinations including cruise ships, Bermuda, Thailand, Hawaii, Boston and at all-inclusives in Jamaica. We are especially adept at finding unusual angles to these stories, and discussing luxury-for-less options such as creating your own signature cocktail at your wedding reception, or giving personalized M&Ms as wedding favors.
On a personal note, Debbi Kickham and her husband Bill have enjoyed—and written about—their very own marriage vow renewals, in Bermuda, Maui, and aboard the cruise ship Paul Gauguin in Moorea, as well as on Regent Seven Seas Cruises in the middle of the ocean.
Debbi Kickham’s travel features have been published in a wealth of national and regional publications including, but not limited to:
Maxima Marketing President Debbi Kickham is also the author of the world’s first beauty book for traveling women, The Globetrotter’s Get-Gorgeous Guide: Diet and Beauty Secrets of Travel and Beauty Pros, Traveling Executives and Celebrity Travelers, which hit Number One on Amazon.com and has been featured in a wealth of media including USA Today’s Go Escape magazine, Fitness Magazine and CBS Money Watch.
